Rope Access

Rope Access
Here at BSSB we have highly trained IRATA Rope access operatives & supervisors with over ten years experience in the industry.

We are safe access specialists providing effective solutions to access difficult to reach areas and structures with experience in the cleaning and maintenance of tall buildings, roofs, masts, towers, silos and tanks.

Our operatives are fully trained advanced level climbers (IRATA rope access technicians) with rescue plan. We have specialist Masts & Towers (Heightec certified) trained operatives fully compliant to JSP 375 vol.3, chapters1-7 (MOD only) and fully compliant with Working at Height Regulation 2005.

All our operatives are IPAF PAL license holders for mobile boom and mobile vertical. They are certified steps and ladder users and inspectors and all are First Aid trained.

Inspections can be carried out and accompanied by full inspection reports with maintenance advice based on the clients requirements. Details of all defects can be supplemented by photographs and detailed drawings if required. We can then follow our inspections with any necessary maintenance.

Rope Access provides an unobtrusive, cost effective access capability, it provides an alternative to using scaffold and powered access machinery which can be both expensive and time-consuming, it can increase productivity therefore reducing lead times and is a recognised safe system of work for tall structures and confined space work.
This service can be combined with our other services including:

Tank Cleaning
Industrial Painting

In today’s modern world there is more and more need for Rope access methods in the workplace as it is an approved safe system of work that is more versatile than any other access on the market. It is currently used in the most demanding environments both on and offshore worldwide.

Rope access is a safe way to carry out works and maintenance to many buildings and structures including but not limited to silo’s, masts, towers, aircraft hangars, gantrys, churches, cranes, bridges and alike.

Is Rope Access right for you ?

Safety:

Statistics show there is currently less than four per 100,000 hours worked reportable incidents in the industry. (source IRATA website)

Disruption:
Unlike other forms of Access such as cherry pickers, scissor lifts or scaffolding, Rope access in most situations can be installed and de-rigged in the working day thus causing less of an intrusion for your work area , staff and customers. It is beneficial particularly where space is limited or advertising needs to remain visible. There is no waiting around for plant to be collected at the end of the job and there is no scaffolding covering your shop front / facade / Company sign.

Cost:
Rope access is often cheaper than other forms of access for many reasons which include:

No hire costs of MEWPS / Scaffold

No extended hire costs caused by weather or job delays

No unforseen hire costs when MEWPS / Scaffold aren’t off hired in sufficient time

No minimum 3 or 5 day hire like MEWPS or Scaffold on both small and 1 day jobs.

Rope access technicians can get to work almost straight away with no waiting for scaffold to be erected or MEWPS to be delivered.
Rope access is a safe and efficient way to work that could seriously reduce the cost of a job.

We have completed works on all sorts of industrial and commercial projects and if you think rope access may be suitable for your next job do not hesitate to get in touch for advice or a free no obligation site visit.
